To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many people commuted to work by rail from Chelmsford to Liverpool Street in each calendar year from 1985 to the latest available date; and what was the percentage increase or decrease in each year.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the current target for completion of the programme for resignalling on the Liverpool Street/ Bethnal Green/Chelmsford line; and if he will make a statement.

British Rail is currently reviewing the timetable for the Great Eastern resignalling programme. I will write to my hon. Friend when this exercise is completed.
