§ Mr. FallonNet recurrent spending on education in Nottinghamshire increased from some £138 million in 1979–80 to some £338 million in 1989–90, the latest year for which information on actual spending is available. That represents a real terms increase of some 22 per cent. These figures exclude spending on Nottingham Polytechnic, which transferred to the PCFC sector in 1989.
