HC Deb 18 June 1991 vol 193 c117W
Mr. Atkinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he has any plans to change the residency and presence conditions for entitlement to non-contributory benefits for members of the armed forces.

Mr. Scott

Special rules already exist to help serving members of the armed forces and their families to satisfy the presence tests for non-contributory disability benefits. On 7 March, my noble Friend, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Lord Henley, announced the Government's intention to extend these provisions to the residence condition for severe disablement allowance. We have no present plans to make any further changes.
