§ Mr. CoxTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what budget his Department has for advertising in ethnic newspapers or magazines the services and responsibilities of his Department; and what amount of money has been spent on this publicity in each of the last five years.
§ Miss WiddecombeAlthough the departmental budget for national publicity does not contain a specific amount for publicity to ethnic minority groups, national publicity campaigns take fully into account the need to reach ethnic minorities. In the current year the Benefits Agency has a budget of £205,000 for publicity materials in ethnic minority languages. Expenditure in 1990–91 was £141,592 and in 1989–90 it was £127,239. Figures for earlier years are not available.
