To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list(a) the number of youth training places in his Department and (b) the number of places occupied in May for each of the years 1989, 1990 and the current year.

There is currently a total of 1,362 youth training places in the Ministry of Defence. The number of places occupied in May for each of the years 1989, 1990 and 1991 is as follows:
