HC Deb 18 July 1991 vol 195 c274W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many copies of his departmental publications "Defending the Environment" and "Sanctuary"—the Ministry of Defence conservation magazine, were distributed at his ministry's exhibition stand at the exhibition of environment, wildlife and conservation at Olympia on 6 to 11 July; what was the cost of production of the distributed documents; and how many requests for further information submitted by visitors to the exhibition were made to his departmental staff.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

The Ministry of Defence issued publicity material during the course of the exhibition to inform the public of the considerable efforts being made to protect and enhance the archaeological and natural history resources of the Defence estate.

It is estimated that the costs for the material were as follows:

Defending the Environment

1,500 leaflets issued at a cost of £1,125.

Sanctuary Magazine

300 copies issued at a cost of £369.

Visitors to the exhibition showed considerable interest in the MOD display and approximately 90 requests for further information were received, in addition to many oral questions.
