§ Mr. Kenneth BakerI announced on 5 August my acceptance of the recommendations in the report of Her Majesty's chief inspector of prisons on the escape from Brixton prison on 7 July. Since then the inquiry conducted by Mr. Ralph Shuffrey and Mr. John Richardson on the disciplinary aspects has been completed and the action taken and its conclusions have been announced. I have received and am considering the report of the security audit conducted by Mr. Ronald Hadfield and Mr. Gordon Lakes. The chief constable of Staffordshire has invited the deputy chief constable of Nottinghamshire to investigate allegations made in the recent television programme "Thames Reports".
