HC Deb 21 May 1990 vol 173 c49W
Mr. David Porter

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement about the future of both offshore and land-based pirate radio in Britain in the light of the Broadcasting Bill.

Mr. Forth

It remains Government policy to take vigorous action against unauthorised broadcasters, whether based offshore or inland. It is essential to keep the airwaves clear for the emergency services and for the wider variety of legitimate broadcasting that we aim to foster. That is the purpose of the new enforcement provisions in the Broadcasting Bill.
