Mr. Caborn

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, pursuant to his answer of 15 May,Official Report, column 365, of the trade delegations that visited Iraq with Government support in 1989–90, 1988–89, 1987–88 and 1986–87, what size of companies, by Her Majesty's Government criteria of size, made up each delegation.

Companies are separated into three groups by number of employees. The relevant figures (where available) are:

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, pursuant to his answer of 15 May,Official Report, column 364, which sectors of Iraqi industry or Government Ministries participated in the British Government-supported inward missions in 1988–89 and 1989–90.

Mr. Redwood

The 1988–89 inward mission organised by the Federation of British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers Associations consisted of participants from the Iraq state organisation for electricity.

The 1989–90 inward mission organised by the Association of British Healthcare Industries consisted of specialists from various hospitals and other medical services.

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, pursuant to his answer of 15 May,Official Report, column 365, of the trade delegations that visited Iraq with Government support in 1989–90, 1988–89, 1987–88 and 1986–87, how many companies have been on more that one delegation; and how many on more than two delegations.

During the years covered by the question 24 companies have been supported more than once and 42 have received support more than twice.
