To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will discuss with the chairman of British Rail the sites for channel tunnel depots in the regions.

Mr. Freeman

This is a commercial matter for British Rail.

69. Mr. Gow

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport on what date he expects the first train to travel through the channel tunnel.

Mr. Freeman

This is a matter for Eurotunnel. Its projected completion of the tunnel system is 15 June 1993.

70. Miss Hoey

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when the Minister last met the chairman of British Rail to discuss the channel tunnel terminal at Waterloo.

Mr. Freeman

The Government's approval for BR's investment at Waterloo was announced on 18 May.
