HL Deb 17 May 1988 vol 497 cc314-5WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What were the grounds on which the Secretary of State for the Environment decided to reject the advice of his statutory advisers in the case of the Goodhart Rendel Church of St. Wilfrid at Brighton, and to take the advice of unnamed others to the effect that the building was of only "local" interest and should therefore be filled with flats.

The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (The Earl of Caithness)

We granted listed building consent for the conversion of St. Wilfrid's Church to flats for the reasons given in the decision letter of 11th January 1988 to the agents for the applicants, the Chichester Diocesan Housing Association. A copy has been placed in the Library.
