HC Deb 25 March 1988 vol 130 c263W
Ms. Gordon

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) what will be the status of the A13 between West India Dock road and the Leamouth road when the south Poplar and the East India Dock road are completed and linked to the A13 East India Dock road;

(2) what traffic management measures are proposed for the A13 between West India Dock road and Leamouth road once the south Poplar link road and the East India Dock link road are completed;

(3) whether heavy vehicles will be allowed along the south Poplar link road and the East India Dock link road, as well as along the A13 between West India Dock road and Leamouth road;

(4) what is the relationship, from the point of view of through traffic and local traffic, between the A13 junction improvement schemes and the docklands highway.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The docklands highway and the A13, to be improved by the six schemes whose inclusion in the Department's road programme was announced on 7 March, will together provide for traffic moving to and from the docklands area, and through it. The Department has set up a working group with the London Docklands development corporation, local authorities, police and other interested parties to discuss traffic management, including heavy vehicles in the area. There are no proposals to change the status of the A13.
