HC Deb 25 March 1988 vol 130 cc262-3W
Ms. Gordon

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if the docklands northern relief road was taken over by his Department as a road scheme when the Greater London council was abolished; (2) what is the current official status of the docklands northern relief road; (3) what is the status of the London Docklands development corporation's proposals for the south Poplar link road and the East India dock link road; (4) what assumptions have been made about completion dates for London Docklands development corporation schemes known jointly as the docklands highway.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

On abolition of the GLC, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State became responsible for safeguarding the protected corridor of the proposed dock lands northern relief road. The LDDC has developed proposals for docklands highways to provide access to developments within its area. These proposals, which include the south Poplar link road and the East India dock link road, follow the protected corridor. It is expected that they will have been completed by the early 1990s.
