HC Deb 25 March 1988 vol 130 c263W
Ms. Gordon

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) whether all trunk road schemes are subject to public inquiries including an examination of the purpose, function and design of schemes;

(2) if there will be public inquiries to examine the purpose, function and design of the six A13 junction schemes which he recently announced;

(3) what are the expected completion dates of the A13 junction improvements;

(4) what public consultation is to take place about the A13 schemes he announced on 7 March.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Public inquiries are normally required to be held into unresolved objections to orders authorising trunk road schemes. The scope of the inquiry depends on the nature of the objections.

It is too early to say what public consultation and inquiries may be necessary for the recently announced A13 schemes. We hope they will he completed by the mid-1990s.
