To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) when his Department first learnt from British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. that a canister containing plutonium had been found at the Drigg dump site, as announced by British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. to the media on 13 July;
(2) pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Meirionnydd Nant Conwy, 14 June, Official Report, columns 142–43, whether the table included the radioactive content of the canister of plutonium bearing nuclear fuel found at the Drigg dump site as announced by British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. on 13 July.

Member for Copeland (Dr. Cunningham) on 15 July 1988,Official Report, column 430, this matter is currently subject to a joint investigation by the Health and Safety Executive and Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution who will report their findings shortly.
