§ Mr. ButlerTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what information he has received from the Warrington-Runcorn development corporation of harassment of new town tenants by certain Warrington borough councillors; and if he will make a statement on the implications for his housing policy.
§ Mrs. RoeI understand that the local authority has campaigned against the decision by Warrington and Runcorn development corporation to make an agency agreement with a group of housing associations.
§ Mr. SteinbergTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimates he has made of the number of extra houses he considers the city of Durham will need as a result of economic development in the next few years.
§ Mrs. RoeThe Secretary of State has made no such estimate. In May 1986 Durham county council submitted proposals for alterations to the county structure plan to the Secretary of State, and these included provision for 3,000 new dwellings in the city of Durham district between 1983 and 1996.
The Secretary of State's proposed modifications to the alterations were published on 22 July 1988 and he does not propose to make any changes to this level of provision.
