§ Mr. SoleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give(a) a current estimate of the number of single homeless people who are registered with a history of psychiatric illness and (b) estimates for each year since 1983.
§ Mrs. CurrieInformation is not available in the form requested. During the first quarter of 1988 approximately 3 per cent. of the 31,100 households accepted as homeless by local authorities in England were regarded as vulnerable on the grounds of mental illness. This information is not precise enough to enable valid comparisons with earlier years to be made.
§ Mr. SoleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give an estimate of the funds he has made available for each year since 1983 to provide the single homeless with training and employment incentives.
§ Mr. PortilloWe make no such provision. Training and employment incentives are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment.
