§ Mr. BlairTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many applications were made, and how many were successful, for supplementary benefit single payments in May 1985, May 1986 and May 1987, in each of his Department's local offices in the counties of Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham, Northumbria and Tyne and Wear.
§ Mr. Portillo[holding answer 27 June 1988]: Information concerning the number of applications made for single payments is not kept and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. The table includes the number of decisions made and the number of single payments given during the four weeks ending 4 June 1985, 3 June 1986 and 2 June 1987, respectively. The local offices shown are those situated within the counties requested, but office arid county boundaries are not conterminous.
