§ 22. Mr. SteelTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received about the allocation for health contained in the document "Public Expenditure to 1991: A Commentary on the Scotland Programme."
§ Mr. RifkindI have received no representations concerning the substantial funds we are planning to provide for the National Health Service in Scotland. Gross expenditure this year is expected to be £2,334 million, an increase of 120 per cent. since 1979–80; and we plan to increase this figure still further by some £120 million in 1988–89 and by about £100 million in each of the following two years.
§ 32. Mr. Menzies CampbellTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will meet the National Farmers Union of Scotland to discuss the allocation for agriculture in "Public Expenditure to 1990–91—A Commentary on the Scotland Programme".
§ Mr. Michael ForsythMy noble Friend the Minister of State meets the union regularly to discuss a wide range of issues of common interest.
The union has not asked for a meeting on the commentary, which gives details of planned increases in Government expenditure in support of Scottish agriculture over the three years to 1990–91, thus underlining the Government's continuing commitment to the industry.
