HC Deb 24 February 1988 vol 128 c229W
23. Mr. Ron Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has plans to meet the Scottish Trades Union Congress to discuss unemployment in Scotland; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lang

I have no plans to do so in the near future. I am delighted to say that seasonally adjusted unemployment in Scotland fell byover 42,000 between January 1987 and January 1988 and is now at its lowest level since April 1983.
