HC Deb 22 February 1988 vol 128 cc60-1W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how much of the distributable revenue balances as set out by the London residuary body in its 1987–88 budget has been distributed.

Mr. Chope

I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to him on 13 January 1988, at column275.

Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many staff were employed by the London residuary body for the purpose of carrying out its functions as of 31 March 1986; how many are currently employed; and how many he estimates will be employed in the coming 12 months.

Mr. Chope

The London residuary body did not inherit its functions from the former GLC until 1 April 1986. On that date the LRB employed 3,580 staff. It currently employs 2,114 staff. Future staffing levels are a matter for the LRB to determine having regard to its remaining functions and workload. On present forecasts, it estimates that staff numbers will have fallen to 900 by the end of 1988–89. All figures are full-time equivalents.

Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how much was received by the London residuary body from the sale of the motor vehicle registration number ALC 1, previously used by the chairman of the Greater London council.

Mr. Chope

The sum is £2,500.

Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what information he has about the London residuary body's current estimate of capital assets awaiting disposal.

Mr. Chope

None.
