§ Mr. CopeBetween April 1986 and July 1987, a total of 41 per cent. of young people who left YTS schemes in 789W the Easington local authority district (which includes Easington, Peterlee and Seaham) were in jobs three months after leaving. Two-year YTS started in April 1986 and so most of those leaving schemes since that date did not complete their training. Results for those completing the two-year course will not be available until the end of this year.
§ Mr. PikeTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many people were employed in manfacturing industry(a) in May 1979 and (b) at the latest date for which figures are available; and if he will express each figure as a percentage of the total of those in employment.
