HC Deb 05 February 1988 vol 126 c789W
Ms. Richardson

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many of his Department's management training courses include sessions on equal opportunities for women; and what proportion of managers at grade 6 level and above working outside headquarters have received training on equal opportunities for women.

Mr. Nicholls

Most introductory line management training courses include sessions on all aspects of equal opportunities; these cover equal opportunities for women. There are plans to include such sessions in the remaining courses. Other line management courses contain where appropriate either a specific equal opportunities session or a discussion on equal opportunities issues. Overall, 23 courses contain general equal opportunities sessions and there are plans to include such sessions in a further four courses. In addition, three courses contain separate sessions on equal opportunities for women.

Because of their different entry methods and the variety of courses they have attended, it is not possible to identify what proportion of managers at grade 6 level working outside headquarters have received equal opportunities training.
