§ Mr. Worthingtonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will take steps to amend the Criminal Legal Aid Regulations so far as to remove those provisions which at present prevent an accused person from obtaining assistance at any subsequent diet when he has pleaded guilty without professional help, with the result that a person who has previously been sentenced to imprisonment and is at risk of having this liberty is totally disqualified from being represented under legal aid.
§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThis is one of several aspects of the legal aid regime on which I have received representations. I hope to reach a view on all the proposals made to me before the end of the year.
