Sir Raymond Gowerasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will take steps to ensure that current efforts by local authorities, industrialists and other bodies to create new employment and job opportunities in Barry and district shall enjoy the fullest support of his Department, of the Welsh Development Agency and all other government offices in Wales; and if he will consider what extra incentives and assistance may be introduced.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsMy Department and the Welsh Development Agency have sought and will continue to seek to support all sound proposals for creating new employment in the Barry and district area. I am sure that my hon. Friend will have welcomed the announcement this morning that a new holiday airline, Inter European Airways, is being set up in his constituency. This project is supported by regional selective assistance and will provide 145 new jobs.
