§ 11. Mr. Chapmanasked the Secretary of State for Wales what initiatives his Department is taking to promote National Tree Week from 29 November to 7 December.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsI fully support the measures taken by the Tree Council to promote the planting and maintenance of amenity trees and I wish the National Tree Week every success. A variety of assistance is available to encourage planting in Wales including grant under the urban programme, farm capital grant schemes, the broadleaves woodland grant scheme and assistance from the Countryside Commission. We also have a particularly encouraging Welsh initiative in the Coed Cymru campaign.
