HL Deb 06 November 1986 vol 481 c1243WA
Lord Graham of Edmonton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, having regard to the responsibility placed on British Gas PLC to ensure a safe supply of gas to the consumer, they will initiate discussions with the company to obtain their proposals for continuing to fund a successor body to the Confederation of Registered Gas Installers (CORGI) by either: (a) a standing charge to individual consumers, or (b) the provision of a capital fund; or whether Her Majesty's Government will consider establishing a capital fund themselves against which to defray running costs and so ensure adequate funding of the successor body.

Lord Young of Graffham

Possible methods of financing any successor body to the Confederation for the Registration of Gas Installers are being explored by the Health and Safety Commission and the council of the confederation, who will make recommendations to the Government in due course.
