HL Deb 06 November 1986 vol 481 c1243WA
Lord Graham of Edmonton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will specify the detailed investigations which have led them to the conclusion that improved safety in gas installations will result from disbanding the Confederation of Registered Gas Installers, which was sponsored by the British Gas Corporation to establish national standards of safety in gas installations.

The Secretary of State for Employment (Lord Young of Graffham)

The Government have asked the Health and Safety Commission and the Council of the Confederation for the Registration of Gas Installers to develop proposals for a new, independent and representative body to promote safety in gas installation. The new body would build on the excellent work done by the confederation, which would form its nucleus.
