§ Mr. Bestasked the Secretary of State for Wales what proposals he has to give the Welsh Development Agency greater scope for assisting rural areas by way of grants and other measures along the lines of those presently available to Mid-Wales Development; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsI have no plans to extend Mid-Wales development grant beyond its present scope, but my officials, the Welsh Development Agency and Mid-Wales Development are considering further programmes to help job creation and business activity in the rural areas and I hope to announce details within the next few weeks.
