HC Deb 22 May 1985 vol 79 c458W
47. Mr. Colin Shepherd

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on Anglo-Canadian relations.

Mr. Renton

Anglo-Canadian relations are close and harmonious. As partners in the Commonwealth and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and participants in the summit seven, the United Kingdom and Canada share many interests. Trade and investment are also of major importance.

There are extensive contacts between the United Kingdom and Canada at all levels, including frequent ministerial visits and parliamentary and official consultations on many matters of mutual concern.
