HC Deb 22 May 1985 vol 79 c458W
46. Sir Peter Blaker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent consultations he has had with the United States Secretary of State about the disarmament negotiations between the United States and the Soviet Union in Geneva.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

I meet Mr. Shultz regularly. Our most recent meeting was in Vienna on 15 May during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Austrian State Treaty.

70. Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on the prospects for the next stage of the arms negotiations at Geneva.

Mr. Luce

We hope that the next round will see a serious and businesslike approach by the Soviet Union towards achieving the agreed objectives of the talks, which we fully support. But it will be wrong to expect that the talks will produce swift results on these complex issues.
