HC Deb 10 July 1985 vol 82 c475W
47. Mr. John Carlisle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what recent discussions have taken place between the Minister with responsibility for sport and the Test and County Cricket Board concerning the implications for crowd control of spectator intrusion on to the playing area of cricket pitches; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Macfarlane

I met representatives of the Test and County Cricket Board on 21 June. We discussed crowd control and crowd behaviour at recent cricket matches, including spectator intrusions on to the playing area. The TCCB shares my concern to ensure that early action is taken to stop the worrying decline in crowd behaviour and is urgently considering steps to be taken.
