asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what was the Government expenditure during the last financial year on the Council of Europe, the Western European Union, the North Atlantic Assembly, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, respectively.

Payments to the Council of Europe, Western European Union Secretariat and Assembly and the North Atlantic Assembly in respect of the United Kingdom share of their budgets during the financial year 1984–85 were as follows:

Expenditure on the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer. However, I understand that expenditure was as follows:
