§ Mr. Sternasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the chief constable of Nottinghamshire as to the quality of the accommodation occupied by members of the police forces while in Nottinghamshire to keep the peace during the coal dispute; and if he will make a statement on the substance of the report.
§ Mr. Giles ShawSome of the accommodation provided originally, and at short notice, was understand-ably not of a high standard. Much has been done in the intervening months to make proper provision with the object of ensuring that accommodation is warm and dry, with suitable beds and bedding, adequate heating and lighting, and suitable eating, washing and toilet facilities. Further changes are being made to ensure that accommodation is suitable for the winter months.
