HC Deb 29 November 1984 vol 68 cc553-4W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the outcome of his consultation on the future of building control in Scotland.

Mr. Younger

In October of last year I issued a consultative paper which sought views on a range of proposals to improve the building control system in Scotland. I am grateful for the many thoughtful responses from a broad range of interests. The Government's decision to review this system was widely welcomed and general support was given to the principal objectives of the review. I have given careful consideration to all the views expressed and decided to proceed with the proposals with certain modifications as outlined in a statement which I have today placed in the Library of the House.
