§ Sir Brandon Rhys Williamsasked the Prime Minister if she will publish a table showing for a married man with three children aged 20 years, 17 years and 15 years, all in full-time education, net spending power from paid employment as a percentage of net spending power on supplementary benefit, with net spending power defined as gross earnings plus child benefit, less income tax, national insurance contribution, mortgage interest, rates, water rates, work expenses and parental contribution to student grant, and using the following assumptions: earnings of (a) £15,000 and (b) £20,000, mortgage £30,000, rates and water rates £550, work expenses £1,000 and parental contribution according to the student grant regulations proposed for 1985–86.
