HC Deb 23 November 1984 vol 68 cc287-8W
Mr. McCusker

asked the Prime Minister how many meetings have taken place under the auspices of the Anglo-Irish intergovernmental council since its inception; and what has been the outcome of these meetings.

The Prime Minister

Since its inception in November 1981, there have been some 50 formal ministerial and official meetings held under the auspices of the Anglo-Irish intergovernmental council. The meetings have contributed to the development of good relations between the two Governments. The pattern of co-operation was set out in detail in the communique released after the Anglo-Irish summit meeting in November 1983, published as Command Paper 9094. During the past year, as made clear in the communique released after the recent summit meeting, this co-operation has continued.
