§ Mr. Bestasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give the latest estimate of the number of dwellings in Wales which are in need of (a) standard amenities and (b) repairs costing £2,500 or more; and if he will estimate the cost of bringing these dwellings up to a reasonable standard.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsThe 1981 Welsh House Condition Survey indicates that about 84,000 dwellings lacked one or more of the basic amenities and that about 250,000 dwellings (excluding second homes) needed repairs in excess of £2,500. At that time the cost of providing amenities and of eliminating disrepair over the £2,500 limit was estimated to be about £850 million.
