HC Deb 14 November 1984 vol 67 c245W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will consider special measures to alleviate the level of unemployment in Holyhead.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

Every opportunity is taken and will continue to be pursued to safeguard employment and provide new jobs in the area, which is well placed to benefit from both domestic and European assistance. Existing policies and programmes, including in general the work of agencies within Wales with a remit to develop the economic potential of the Principality, provide for employment and training opportunities, grants for industrial projects, programmes of infrastructure development including road construction and factory building, urban programme and European Community schemes.
