HC Deb 02 March 1984 vol 55 cc382-3W
Mr. Canavan

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the total area and value of Forestry Commission assets in England which have been sold or are in the process of being sold since the implementation of the Forestry Act 1981.

Mrs. Fenner

Between the passing of the Forestry Act 1981 and 21 January 1984, the latest date for which figures are available, a total of £13.2 million was received for the sale of Forestry Commission land and other real assets in England. The area involved included 5,417 hectares of forestry land and plantations. As at 21 January a further £17.6 million worth of assets in England, including 14,945 hectares of forestry land and plantations, were in the process of being sold—that is, they were either on the market or had been approved for sale and reserve prices had been fixed.
