HC Deb 26 June 1984 vol 62 c399W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish information showing how the infant mortality rate in Scotland compares with European Economic Community countries, Sweden, Japan and the United States of America.

Mr. John MacKay

The latest available information, for all countries listed except Greece, is published each year in the annual report of the Registarar General for Scotland, copies of which are in the Libary. I understand that information relating to other countries is published by the World Health Organisation in its annual statistics.

Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, what has been the infant mortality rate in Dundee in each of the past five years; and what are the corresponding figures for Tayside.

Mr. John MacKay

The information is contained in the annual reports of the Registrar General for Scotland for 1978 to 1982, copies of which are in the Library.

Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, what has been the infant mortality rate in Scotland in each of the past three years; and if he will subdivide the figures by social class.

Mr. John MacKay

The information is contained in tables D1.4 and D1.6 of the annual report of the Registrar General for Scotland for 1982, a copy of which is in the Library.
