HC Deb 26 June 1984 vol 62 c399W
Dr. Mawhinney

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many of the Norway spruce tree population of the United Kingdom were killed by disease in each of the last five years; and how many of these were killed by disease bought into the United Kingdom in the bark of Christmas trees imported from Holland and Belgium.

Mr. John Mackay

There has been no significant incidence of deaths of Norway spruce trees from disease, and none so far as I am aware as a consequence of importing Christmas trees.
