asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many (a) juveniles and (b) young adults received into custody between 24 May and 13 November 1983 had received youth custody sentences of four months one day.

From central records it is estimated that about 30 persons aged under 17 and about 100 persons aged 17 and under 20 were received into prison department establishments in England and Wales in the period 24 May to 13 November 1983 under sentence of youth custody for four months and one day.
