What steps they intend to take to consult local authorities about the new powers they are seeking in the Local Government (Interim Provisions) Bill to control certain activities of the Greater London Council and the metropolitan county councils.

My department has written to the relevant local authority associations, and to the constituent authorities in the areas concerned, about the proposed new controls. A copy of the letter has been placed in the Library.
