HC Deb 22 February 1984 vol 54 cc529-30W
Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what funding his Department will make available for Vietnamese refugees next year; what has been made available to date; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waddington

The level of funding to be provided by the Home Office in 1984–85 to the three refugee agencies working with Vietnamese refugees will be decided as soon as my right hon. and learned Friend has fully considered detailed proposals for a further programme of work which were received earlier this week.

Home Office funding of the agencies' work with Vietnamese refugees from the earliest payments in July 1977 up to March 1985 totalled some £15.4 million. Funding from the Department in the current financial year is expected to total some £723,000.
