§ Mr. Alan ClarkThe Manpower Services Commission's code of good practice on the employment of disabled people was formally launched by the Prime Minister on 14 November and copies have been placed in the Library.
The Government have welcomed and endorsed the code; my right hon. Friend has written to 150 leading 106W companies enclosing a video about the code; and has received a most encouraging response. We believe that the code will be important in ensuring that the abilities of disabled people are recognised and fully utilised.
§ 70. Mr. Ron Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Employment if the Government intend to promote legislation to make discrimination in employment against disabled persons illegal.
