HC Deb 13 December 1984 vol 69 c584W
Mr. Jack Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if there will be a significant change in the rate support grant settlement for 1986–87 because of the loss of rate income from the National Coal Board due to the fall in production already apparent in the current year 1983–84 as a result of the current miners' dispute.

Mr. Waldegrave

It is too early to anticipate the decisions to be taken on the 1986–87 rate support grant settlement.

Mr. Jack Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the local authorities and their associations which have made representations about the probable effects of the miners' dispute upon loss of rate income to local authorities from the National Coal Board, in view of the formula established under the National Coal Board Rateable Valuation Order 1977.

Mr. Waldegrave

I have received no such representations.
