asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what plans he now has for putting into effect the partial loans scheme.

Mr. Brooke

The Government have at present no intention of replacing any part of the student grant by a loan.

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether it is his intention to uprate the residual income thresholds for parental contributions to student grant in line with prices, earnings or some other measure.
