§ Mr. Andrew F. Bennettasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will estimate the extra cost to local education authorities if value added tax is charged on books and periodicals.
§ Mr. DunnThe application of VAT to books and periodicals would not result in any increase in their expenditure since local education authorities are able to reclaim VAT paid on goods and services in respect of their non-trading activities.
