HC Deb 30 April 1984 vol 59 c42W
Mr.Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, pursuant to the answers of 25 April by the Minister of State, the hon. Member for Edinburgh, Pentlands (Mr. Rifkind) to the hon. Member for Livingston (Mr. Cook), Official Report, column 728, he will set out in which other European Economic Community programmes he would accept reduction, and to what level, in the event that there is an overspend on Community expenditure in the current year.

Mr.Rifkind

Savings would need to be found in the areas in which any overspending occurs. In particular, we should expect the Commission to bring forward proposals for savings in agricultural expenditure.
